You still have 1-2 remaining cruisers for the same price as a battleship. It would send in whatever can fit that 40-70 free points from your subsequent fleets. One of your escorts blows up and you now have 40-70 free points in your leadership score for the fight. So lets say you have escorts in your first and second fleets. With cruisers you can lose or withdraw one cruiser without losing everything. What ships come from that fleet depends on your free leadership points at the time. It also takes only one unlucky crit to cripple a battleship. ![]() Tyranids always win at point blank range. This is the worst thing ever when fighting tyranids because they will eat your slow ships. You can bring multiple smaller ships for the price of a single battle barge, and each smaller ship not only is faster but they also hit harder on a per cost basis.īattleships are really tanky but really slow. Their battle barges are ridiculously expensive. You can also bring 2-3 cruisers for the price of a single battleship. For the IN this means lots of cheap ships, all of which are fast, decently durable, do decent damage, and you get a torpedo launcher or nova cannon from each. ![]() I also realized that the threat level is going up without enemy making any moves. I realized that the Chaos faction havent moved not 1 time and Im on turn 7. I moved my fleets to capture unclaimed systems. They are very fragile anrd reliant on speed and holofields for survivability. Playing as the humans, I had a mission to capture certain amount of systems. ![]() So you keep your fleet together and lead with your toughest ships. They are very mobile and can drop a lot of firepower to quickly pick off weak and/or isolated ships. Cruisers seem to be the sweet spot for ships. Eldar just require you to adjust your tactics. There's a reason why you're capped on escorts. Escorts do enormous amounts of damage for the price. They're more fragile, yes, but they're also both faster and do more damage. Smaller ships have higher damage output for the same cost.
